By completing ACTA Botox, Filler & PRF and/or PRP certification courses, you can return to your practice with the experience and knowledge necessary to integrate facial aesthetics into your clinical repertoire.

COURSE INFORMATION

SCHEDULE

The course begins at 8:30 am and ends at 5:00 pm.  Check-in is between 8:00 am – 8:30 am. There is a 4 hour period of didactics in the morning followed by a 4 hour period of clinical patient care in the afternoon.

  • 8:30 – 9:00 AM  Registration, Course & Staff Introduction
  • 9:00 – 10:30 AM  PRF & PRP Cellular Physiology:
    • Review of the elements (growth factors, cytokine proteins, and hematopoietic cell concentrations) associated with platelet-rich-fibrin / plasma including stem cell markers and mechanism of action.
    • Clinical validity of PRF & PRP, potential uses and patient indications for Intra-oral Surgical Applications, Extractions, Implants, Sinus Lifts, Aesthetic Applications, Pain Management, and Alopecia.
    • Overview of PRF & PRP preparation methods for single spin, and dual spin methods and the use or nonuse of kits as well as setting patient expectations for treatment.
  • 10:30 – 10:45 AM  Break
  • 10:45 – 12:30 AM  PRF & PRP Uses:
    • Dental uses for Platelet Rich Fibrin plugs and membranes & PRP injections for Implants, Extractions, Periodontal procedures, and Sinus Lifts
    • Aesthetic uses for Platelet Rich Fibrin & Plasma injections for aesthetic indications to the aging face and other indications of aging.
    • Combination treatments using PRF & PRP with other aesthetic injectables for aesthetic correction and the use of microneedling for static lines and scarring corrective treatments.
    • Protocols for Stem Cell Facelift and Stem Cell Facial Treatments using microneedling and platelet poor plasma for further enhancement of the procedure.
    • Pre and Post-Procedure instructions, contraindications for treatment, patient selections and need for additional treatments.
    • Patient selection criteria, possible relative contraindications, injection techniques, anesthesia options and other tests and screening for patients.
    • Review all of the injections discussed in the course, safety, dosing charts, and injection techniques for safe administration of the procedures.
  • 12:30 – 1:30 PM  Lunch
  • 1:30 – 5:00 PM Supervised Clinical Blood Draw & Injections: The following injection techniques will be performed
    • PRF plug & membrane formation for implants
    • PRF plug formation for extractions
    • PRF plug & membrane formation for sinus lifts
    • PRF plug formation for extractions & implants
    • PRP injection face lift
    • PRP microneedling of the face
    • PRP microneedling an injections for hair loss
    • PRP microneedling for acne

PRF & PRP COURSE OBJECTIVES

Each Trainee Must Complete and Demonstrate Proficiency in the Following Objectives

  • To understand the plasma growth factors
  • Help you understand and distinguish between different FDA-certified PRF & PRP methods.
  • Training you on how to extract the plasma growth factors from the blood AND use PRF & PRP in a variety of ways in order to achieve aesthetic and medical results, depending on the needs and conditions of your patients.
  • Teach and equip you to assess the patient and prepare the treatment area. In addition prepare you with the necessary skills to administer all types of cosmetic injections and understand which specific areas to use (and not use) micro-needling with PRF & PRP training from our experts.
  • Teach you to apply a proper injection technique and present you with a variety of injection options, such as dermal rollers (taking into account different criteria for which option to use in different situations.)
  • Demonstrate different biological activities and reactions related to the use of PRF & PRP.
  • Teaching the validity of using PRF & PRP in the cosmetic industry by giving anecdotal studies and discussing aesthetic considerations.
  • Discussing the future of cell therapies like PRF & PRP.
  • Providing you opportunities to attend classes with physician specialists who are experienced with PRF & PRP therapies so that you can learn different enhanced PRF & PRP and augmentation options.
  • Marketing and pricing lessons of new PRF & PRP procedures to apply in conventional marketing and Internet marketing.

The ACTA ensures individualized instruction by clinicians with 25 years of experience providing Facial Aesthetics. This course is directed by our physician anesthesiologist with years of clinical experience using Botox for boutique private plastic surgery centers. Additional clinical staff includes surgeons, dentists and nurses that have over a decade of experience incorporating Botox into their private practice. Our instructors have decades of teaching and clinical experience and will give you a full understanding of placement techniques, patient prescreening, and anatomical aesthetics. Results yield a more youthful look and compliment any aesthetic dentistry case presented to you.

ABOUT PRF & PRP

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Overview:

Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets are well-known for their clotting abilities, but they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains more platelets than normal.

To create platelet-rich plasma, clinicians take a blood sample from the patient and place it into a device called a centrifuge that rapidly spins the sample, separating out the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Overview:

PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate that is used to accelerate the healing process. Unlike PRP, PRF forms a fibrin matrix that allows the slow release of growth factors, leading to a sustained healing effect.

Process:

    1. Blood Collection: A blood sample is drawn from the patient.
    2. Centrifugation: The blood is placed in a centrifuge, but at a lower speed compared to PRP processing. This gentle spin helps to keep the fibrin matrix intact. The blood separates into three layers: red blood cells at the bottom, acellular plasma at the top, and a fibrin clot in the middle containing platelets and white blood cells.
    3. Extraction: The fibrin clot is removed and used immediately.
    4. Application: The PRF clot can be applied directly to the surgical site or wound. It can be molded to fit the defect area or used in conjunction with other surgical materials.

 

Benefits:

PRF contains a higher concentration of platelets and white blood cells compared to PRP.  The fibrin matrix allows for the slow release of growth factors, providing a sustained healing effect.

The process is 100% natural, with no additives or anticoagulants used during preparation.

Both PRP and PRF have their unique benefits and are selected based on the specific needs of the patient and the nature of the injury or condition being treated. These therapies are gaining popularity in various dental and medical fields, including implants, extractions, orthopedics, sports medicine, and cosmetic surgery, due to their regenerative properties and the use of the patient’s own biological material.
