SCHEDULE

The course begins at 8:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm.  There is a 4 hour period of didactics in the morning followed by a 4 hour period of clinical patient care in the afternoon.

  • 8:00 – 8:30 AM  Course & Staff Introduction
  • 8:30 – 9:00 AM  Filler Pharmacology & Filler Selection
  • 9:00 – 10:00 AM  Facial Anatomy & Danger Zones
  • 10:00 – 11:00 AM  Facial Aesthetics Exam: Patient Selection & Consultation
  • 11:00 – 12:00 PM  Injection Techniques & Filler Cosmetic Uses
  • 12:00 – 1:00 PM Lunch Break
  • 1:00 – 5:00 PM  Live Filler Injection Practicum: Volumizing nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lifting up the corners of the mouth using anatomical landmarks.  Learn to provide subtle lip enhancements by adding volume to establish proper lip and smile lines.  Become proficient in smoothing lip lines and eliminating vertical “smokers” lines. Professionally manage tear troughs and cheek volume.  Clinically address:

FILLER COURSE OBJECTIVES

Each Trainee Must Complete and Demonstrate Proficiency in the Following Objectives

  • Patient assessment and consultation for dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero)
  • Indications and contraindications for these pharmaceutical agents
  • In depth instruction in the anatomy, neurophysiology, musculature and circulatory system of the oral and maxillofacial areas
  • Patient evaluation for the best dental and facial esthetic and therapeutic outcomes
  • Review of sterile technique as it relates to the use of injectable pharmacologic agents
  • Safety and risk issues for dermal filler injectable therapy
  • Learn the physiology and pharmacology of oral and maxillo-facial injectable treatment
  • Integrating dermal filler therapy into therapeutic and esthetic treatment plans
  • Volumizing nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lifting up the corners of the mouth using anatomical landmarks
  • Subtle lip enhancements by adding volume to establish proper lip and smile lines
  • Smoothing lip lines and eliminating vertical “smokers” lines
  • How to avoid, manage, and treat possible adverse reactions and complications
  • Live patient training including comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, proper dosing and delivery of dermal fillers
  • Proper fee structures for oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • All necessary office forms and informed consents needed to begin treating patients immediately

STAFF

The ACTA ensures individualized instruction by clinicians with 25 years of experience providing Facial Aesthetics. This course is directed by our physician anesthesiologist with years of clinical experience using Botox for boutique private plastic surgery centers. Additional clinical staff includes surgeons, dentists and nurses that have over a decade of experience incorporating Botox into their private practice. Our instructors have decades of teaching and clinical experience and will give you a full understanding of placement techniques, patient prescreening, and anatomical aesthetics. Results yield a more youthful look and compliment any aesthetic dentistry case presented to you.

ABOUT FILLER

About Filler

Filler is a hyaluronic acid frequently used to smooth out wrinkles of the face, in the areas of nasolabial folds, lips, oral commissures and marionette lines. It can also be used in dentistry to address uneven lips, improve peri-oral aesthetics and for high lip line cases.  Dermal fillers provide patients with semi-permanent results that last longer than other facial aesthetic procedures.  The main differences between fillers is really the variation in viscosities and G-prime rating factor (water recruitment).  Dermal fillers are given a G prime rating based on their fluidity and flexibility. The lower the rating, the more watery and flexible the filler is. Conversely, the higher the G’ is, the denser and sturdier the filler.

In general the following viscosity rules apply:

⊕ Lips and Tear Troughs require a silky low viscous low G-prime rating

⊕ Nasolabial folds, parenthesis and marionette lines require a higher viscous and higher G-prime rating than the above.

In general the following volume predictions apply [HA is hyaluronic Acid which is filler]:

  • Lips {require 1ml of HA}
  • Tear Troughs {require 0.05 ml of HA each side}
  • Nasolabial folds {require 0.5 – 1 ml of HA each side}
  • Parenthesis and marionette lines {require 0.1 – 0.3 ml of HA each side}
